Complaints & Feedback

Your voice matters. You have the right to raise a concern or complaint at any time — and to do so without fear of any negative consequence.

Last updated: June 2026

Our commitment

ELM Programs Inc. takes feedback and complaints seriously. We maintain clear, open channels for raising concerns, and we use what we hear to improve our services. You can tell us when something isn’t working, and you can expect to be treated with respect throughout.

How to raise a concern or complaint

You can raise a concern in whatever way is most comfortable for you:

  • Speak directly with your ELM support worker.
  • Contact our Managing Director by email at info@elmprograms.ca or by mail at the address below.
  • Ask a family member, friend, advocate, or DSP Care Coordinator to raise the concern with you or on your behalf.

You can give feedback verbally or in writing. If you need help putting your complaint in writing, just ask — we’ll support you.

What happens next

When you raise a complaint, we will acknowledge it promptly, look into it fairly and without judgment, and keep you informed as we work toward a resolution. We aim to resolve concerns as quickly as we reasonably can, and we will explain the outcome and any next steps.

No retaliation

Making a complaint will never put your supports at risk. You should feel safe to express concerns without fear of retaliation or any negative effect on the services you receive.

If you're not satisfied

If you are not satisfied with how ELM has handled your complaint, you have the right to take it further. As a Disability Support Program participant, you can raise your concern with your DSP Care Coordinator or the Province’s Disability Support Program, and — depending on the nature of the concern — with the Nova Scotia Ombudsman or the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission. We are happy to help you understand your options.
